Wednesday, November 14, 2012
PHILADELPHIA, PA – The 36th annual Carol Night, a time-honored tradition at Chestnut Hill College, will take place on Friday, November 30, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. in the Rotunda of St. Joseph Hall. The College campus is located at 9601 Germantown Avenue, Philadelphia.
This holiday concert will feature a spirited selection of classic holiday favorites and student performances by the Wind and String Ensemble, the Jazz Ensemble and the Hill Singers, and a visit from Santa.
The Rotunda, as well as the rest of campus, will be decorated for the holiday season, courtesy of the College’s undergraduate students. This holiday decorating tradition, now in its 85th year, was started by Chestnut Hill College’s first graduating class in 1927.
The annual Christmas Concert will take place on Saturday, December 1 at 7:30 p.m. at St. Genevieve Church in Flourtown and on Sunday, December 2 at 3 p.m. in the College Auditorium. The Christmas Concert features the Chestnut Hill College Community Chorus, directed by Doris Schmauk, who will be performing Beethoven Symphony No. 9, in addition to some seasonal favorites. Sunday’s concert will feature the Philadelphia Doctors Chamber Orchestra, directed by Fawzi Habboushe, M.D.
Carol Night and the Christmas concerts are free and open to the public. For more information about Carol Night or the Christmas concerts, contact Kathleen McCloskey, SSJ, at 215.248.7194 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
