Phillip Kates of the Philadelphia Orchestra and Local Musicians to Play “Open Rehearsal” at College

The string quartet performing on campus consists of Phillip Kates, Violin, the Mitchell and Hilarie Morgan Family Foundation Chair of the Philadelphia Orchestra, and local musicians Geoffrey Michaels; Violin, David Giles; Viola, and Charlie Forbes; Cello. The quartet will play and critique composition sketches written by Chestnut Hill College music majors and other students. Fadlullah Ba’th ’09, a junior in the College’s music program, will join the quartet for one performance.

The four musicians also perform in the group Liebesfreud, where they perform for various venues throughout the Philadelphia area, including the Kimmel Center's "Free in the Plaza" series, the "Last Fridays" series at the Ethical Society of Philadelphia and Art Alliance, and the ensemble's annual "Beethoven's Birthday" celebrations at the Trinity Center for Urban Life.
