Chestnut Hill College to Present 9/11 Documentary “Beyond Belief”
College to Host Talk with Susan Retik of Beyond the 11th Organization

PHILADELPHIA, PA – Susan Retik, a 9/11 widow and co-founder and president of Beyond the 11th organization will show the documentary “Beyond Belief” at Chestnut Hill College on Monday, March 1, 2010 at 4:30 in the Social Room, Fournier Hall. The event is sponsored by the Lecture Committee, History Club, and the Institute for Forgiveness and Reconciliation at Chestnut Hill College.
The moving documentary follows the two co-founders of the Beyond the 11th organization, Susan Retik and Patricia Quigley, both mothers who were widowed on 9/11 when their husbands died on United Flight 175 and American Flight 11. The film shows their journey from suburbia to Afghan villages as these women develop an unlikely kinship with other widows halfway around the world and learn to heal and reconcile from their tragedy. The documentary will be followed by a question and answer session with Susan Retik, and time for discussion and reflection.
The Beyond the 11th organization is a non-profit organization that empowers widows in Afghanistan who have been afflicted by war, terrorism, and oppression. Co-founder Susan Retik is an inspirational speaker who travels and shares her remarkable
story of transforming personal loss into humanitarian outreach, helping others to embrace their own power to make a difference and raising awareness of the struggle of Afghan widows. Susan has received a number of honors for her work, including
