PHILADELPHIA, PA – The Chestnut Hill College Mask & Foil Drama Club presents the student production of “Our Town” on Friday, November 18 at 7 p.m., Saturday, November 19 at 7 p.m., and Sunday, November 20 at 1 p.m. in the College Auditorium located at 9601 Germantown Avenue in Philadelphia.
Written by Thornton Wilder, “Our Town” is set in the fictional town of Grover’s Corners, New Hampshire, during the early twentieth century and follows the everyday lives of George Gibbs, a doctor's son, and Emily Webb, the daughter of the town's newspaper editor and George's future wife. The stage manager narrates the story as their lives unfold, teaching the audience lessons about love, marriage, death and eternity. The innovative drama was awarded the Pulitzer Prize and is one of the most popularly produced plays of the twentieth century.
“Our Town” is one of the many student-produced plays and musicals at Chestnut Hill College, previously running productions of “Godspell” and “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” and “Once on This Island” in past years. Students are in charge of every detail of the production from running rehearsals and directing to props and choreography. This year’s production is directed by junior KayCee Flore and is produced by senior Anna St. Hilaire.
Tickets are $5 for general admission and $3 for Chestnut Hill College students. For more information, call 215.248.7118.
