Chestnut Hill College Celebrates Montessori Educators With Lecture by Author Chick Moorman

Friday, February 29, 2009

PHILADELPHIA, PA – Chestnut Hill College, in association with the Montessori Teachers Association of Pennsylvania, will host "Celebrate the Spirit Whisperers" on Friday, February 29, at 6:00 p.m. at the College. An inspirational keynote address will be delivered by Chick Moorman, author of Spirit Whisperers: Teachers Who Nourish a Child's Spirit and founder of the Institute for Personal Power.

Chick Moorman has provided training to over 300,000 teachers and parents through the Institute for Personal Power, and conducted over 2,000 seminars on educating and raising responsible children. His mission is to empower educators so they can in turn empower others. His talk will describe to teachers a vision of an educational system that doesn’t perceive failure, that grants dignity without it needing to be earned, and that holds the student in a state of grace even when appropriate consequences need to be implemented.

The evening’s events include a reception, buffet dinner, door prizes, and keynote address by Chick Moorman. Dinner will begin with a welcome by Carol M. Pate, Ed.D., chair of the education department at Chestnut Hill. Michelle Burns Carr, director of the Montessori teacher education program at the College will introduce Mr. Moorman. The evening will conclude with a book signing and sale of Spirit Whisperers: Teachers Who Nourish a Child's Spirit.

Tickets are $30 in advance or $40 at the door. Refunds will be made if the event is cancelled due to inclement weather. Chestnut Hill College is located at 9601 Germantown Avenue, Philadelphia.
