Director for Library & Information Resources

Purpose: 

The Director of the Logue Library & Information Services is charged with the strategic planning of programs and services, with special emphasis on reference skills and information literacy, financial management, accreditation, and management of operations to ensure the Logue Library is meeting the needs of the Chestnut Hill College community. This position reports to the Vice President for Academic Affairs.

Chestnut Hill College, founded by the Sisters of Saint Joseph in 1924, is an independent, Catholic institution that strives to foster equality through education. The College, situated in Chestnut Hill, a charming neighborhood in Northwest Philadelphia, serves a culturally diverse student body.  The College offers undergraduate and graduate programs.

Requirements: 
  • American Library Association accredited degree, such as a Master in Library Science (MLS) or Master in Information Science (MIS), or similar recognized degree in the field, and a second Master’s degree.
  • 5-7 years of progressive responsibilities in a university or research library.
  • Evidence of successful administrative and organizational leadership; record of managerial responsibility in an academic library.
  • Proven leadership in strategic and fiscal planning including budget management.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills; knowledge of current and emerging issues and practices in academic libraries; strong service orientation; ability and desire to work as part of a collegial team; capacity to work with a diverse population
  • Commitment to student learning.
  • Experience in Information Literacy instruction
  • Ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends.
Responsibilities: 
  • Organize and administer library operations
  • Recruit library staff and encourage ongoing professional development
  • Promote relations between the Library and the College Community
  • Prepare and administer the library budget
  • Represent Chestnut Hill College in consortium organizations
  • Research and promote the use of evolving technology
  • Develop and provide Information Literacy presentations
  • Pursue professional updating through reading and workshops
  • Contribute to a team-oriented teaching library environment
  • Work some evenings and weekends
  • Undertake other duties as assigned
